I am an aquatic ecologist, currently working as a Leopoldina postdoctoral fellow at the Instituto de Ciências Biológicas, Universidade Federal de Minas Gerais, Brasil. My main research interests are:

• ecosystem ecology and limnology
• stream ecology (nutrient and organic carbon dynamics, energy flow, primary and secondary production, hydrodynamics)
• effects of land-use and wastewater discharge on aquatic communities and ecosystem functioning
• microbial ecology, distribution ecology of aquatic protists, protist-bacteria interactions
• cachaça, chorinho, and the meaning of life
